During elementary school, every year, we had an event where each class had to come up with a performance. We chose a song and created a choreography to present it in front of the entire school and our proud and excited parents. We called it “The Festival”.
One year, our class chose the song “Ay mama Inés”. For the performance, we dressed in white linen fabric and painted our faces and arms black. Like real cubans.
I know, how incredibly politically incorrect, right??
Well, those were different times.
